The KICKASSNESS of KICKASS
The Alter Ego. That part of ourselves only we know. There will never be a way to share it fully with anyone. The world can only catch glimpses. We present with a smile, a gentle touch, a kind word yet hidden beneath, lurks our shadow self: The survivor, the destroyer, the animal, that thing with sharp teeth fighting for survival in a brutal world.
For some, this may oppositely present itself. Nasty outside yet inside a babe looking to be loved and nurtured. We wear our masks to protect ourselves, navigate the cunning waters, hide behind, and take refuge.
Art is the language. It speaks to our psyche. Stare long enough, and parts of ourselves will be revealed; details we didn't know existed, understand, or have the words to express. We can't lock our shadows away and pretend they aren't there. They will start pounding . . . relentlessly pounding until they are heard. Embrace your shadows, your demons. Look upon them with love and compassion. Let them take the wheel now and again.
The Art of KICKASS gives us access, and a means to explore the parts unknown. We can look in the dark mirror, ponder, and begin to heal. Every piece of art I create comes directly from the universe. I never know what it will be, and I never plan it. My role is that of a vessel for the language of the soul.
I encourage you to discover the KICKASS nature of my art; focus and breathe, look deeper, even deeper, and deeper still . . . until the lines and color dance and shift form, and as with a waking dream, the psyche is revealed.
